As Prairie Creek matures towards production, the Company will expand local engagement and seek support from stakeholders. The recent agreements associated with the Prairie Creek Mine are a reflection of NorZinc Ltd.’s commitments.

“This Agreement with Canadian Zinc provides for participation for the Liidlii Kue First Nation in the Prairie Creek Mine in job creation, business opportunities and social benefits. The IBA also provides for environmental monitoring, oversight and reporting to ensure that the Mine operations are carried out in an environmentally sound manner. We recognize that development and operation of the Prairie Creek Mine will have an impact on the environment, and on our communities, and we must ensure that an adequate level of protection is provided and we must be satisfied that the mitigations and contingencies proposed by NZC will provide that level of protection”

The IBA signed with the Nahanni Butte Dene Band and the reported close working relations with the Liidlii Kue First Nations are encouraging signs that all affected stakeholders will benefit from the development of this mine. Canadian Zinc is a good corporate citizen, has been very forthcoming with community communications, and has demonstrated ample willingness to share any benefits that may accrue from this project. The Village is looking forward to a positive set of final recommendations from the MVEIRB that will hasten the start of this project, with a minimum of further delay.”

“In this Agreement Canadian Zinc and the Nahæâ Dehé Dene Band acknowledge their mutual intentions that the Prairie Creek Project will be developed and operated in a manner that respects the land, the environment and cultures of aboriginal and non-aboriginal peoples of the North. The Agreement confirms the intentions of Canadian Zinc and the Nahæâ Dehé Dene Band to work co-operatively to ensure our community and our people receive significant economic benefit from the Prairie Creek Mine. In addition to the financial benefit we have negotiated this Agreement will mean jobs, training and education and business opportunities for our people for many years to come.”
